LFW SS12: On|Off Hosts Exclusive Catwalk Dinner With Rankin & Tuuli

rankon_off-90On|Off hosted an exclusive catwalk dinner at Rankin’s London studio to kick-start London Fashion Week SS12 and showcase a limited edition fanzine produced by Tuuli.

Following a successful AW11 collaboration with Tuuli (Rankin’s wife) - who directed and produced the film ‘Switch On Switch Off,’ in partnership with Rankin - On|Off has teamed up once again with the duo for SS12. The collaboration consists of a limited edition printed fanzine which features some of the most talented up-and-coming designers and photographers. Designers include Rein Vollenga, Bronwen Marshall, Lee Lapthorne, Zeynep Tosun and Hasan Hejazi.

Despite moving its catwalk shows to Paris this season, On|Off was keen to maintain a presence at London Fashion Week. On|Off creative director Lee Lapthorne says: “Working with Tuuli and Rankin has been an inspiration and I hear that the BFC have followed our lead by inviting Rankin to work with them on an LA project.”

Lee explained the idea behind the fanzine. “Tuuli and I wanted to bring together creatives from many disciplines; such as designers, photographers, hair stylists, make-up artists and set designers - a philosophy that On|Off has always looked to develop. We also wanted to have something physical to distribute during London and Paris Fashion Weeks.”

To celebrate the collaboration and to preview the Paris catwalk event, On|Off and Lee Lapthorne hosted a spectacular catwalk dinner at Rankin’s studio, inspired by Lee’s visit to the Circus restaurant in which dancers and artists performed on the dinner table as you ate. Around 30 key industry names attended including Italian Vogue, Love Magazine, iD, Harrods and Browns, alongside Erin O’Connor, Elly Jackson, Margo Stilly, Tuuli, and Rankin.

In addition to the catwalk dinner, Rankin and Tuuli have curated an exhibition of young fashion photographers, in association with On|Off. The exhibition is showing from 19 September to 7 October 2011 at the Annroy Gallery, 110-114 Grafton Road, Kentish Town, London. NW5 4BA.

Lee said: “Rankin was inspired by the photographers we selected for the fanzine and decided to celebrate new works through an exhibition called ‘Dig The New Breed. He has decided to continue to search for cool new up and coming photographers in the same way that On|Off celebrates fashion designers, product designers and artists.”
