Fashion Bite for On|Off

Q&A with On|Off exhibitor Lee Lapthorne

Lee LapthorneWhat was the inspiration for your AW11 collection?
Dead Birds which I took photographs of, the photographs included dramatic skies and X-rays of parrots.

How has the collection evolved from your SS11 offer?
My AW collections are always dark in contrast to my SS collections which are bright and colourful. Ponchos are my signature (they were born out of the idea of cool festival wear) as they show off my prints perfectly, along with being statement pieces.

Can you describe a few of the key pieces from the collection?
Digital printed, dark ponchos covered jewel encrusted shoulders, which are uniquely reversible and splash proof.

Who would you love to see wearing your collection?
I want to see people wearing my clothes that fall for the unique textile prints and love them and appreciate them. Jessie J has worn many pieces, and is a fan of the hoodies. Jo Whiley is also a fan and for Glastonbury (for the second year running) I'm making her a key piece for the festival.

What is On for you?
A BIG FAT lie in (post fashion week).

What is Off for you?

What attracted you to show at On|Off?
Its home...

What appeals about OnOff as a venue?
The venue reflects On|Off's philosophy 'Design over hype' and is more simple, contained, intimate, selective and exclusive.

Why do you think On|Off is important for LFW?
On|Off raised the bar and continues to do so.
