Fashion Bite for On|Off

Q&A with On|Off exhibitor Haizhen Wang

Haizhen WangWhat was the inspiration for your AW11 collection?
A juxtaposition of contrasting found images of 19th century baby portraits and Os Cangacieros (a group of working class French revolutionaries) creating the idea that perception of identity can be distorted by hiding behind an opposing identity.

How has the collection evolved from your SS11 offer?
This collection has a more focused, stronger theme. It is darker, more masculine and more sophisticated. I took more risks and introduced a lot more texture in my use of fabric and details.

Who would you love to see wearing your collection?
Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller.

What is On for you?
The Cumberland and the wonderful people at Banger Bro’s Notting Hill branch.

What is Off for you?
Cold salad on my hot noodles!

What attracted you to show at On|Off?
I wanted my collection to be seen by the right people and I feel that On|Off offer an appropriate platform for me to showcase my work for both London and Paris.

Why do you think On|Off is important for LFW?
It gives newer designers an opportunity to get exposure and be involved with London Fashion week.
