Yana Chervinska is one of the young designers of the blooming Kiev fashion scene presenting her collection in London this season. Part of the On|Off creative platform that revealed such talents as Gareth Pugh or JW Anderson, Yana has show a collection inspired by the characteristic imagery and patterns that one can see applied to the garments manufactured back in the 70s and 80s in the USSR and that today are most widely still being used by an elder generation. Well, not anymore in a great recycling exercise Yana reinterpreted these old fabrics and gave them a contemporary touch to meet the expectations of a new generation of consumers. Yana’s new collection also shows a very strong knitwear component with quiet a few looks exploring the knitwear and sometimes combining it together with such fabrics as velvet.
