Rebecca Carrington is known for her unique concepts, charm and humour. She blends prints and embellishments into playful womenswear designs with an innovative twist. Carrington is a graduate from Manchester School of Art and has gone on to have multiple success; the two latest being Gold prize for her collection, ‘The story of Miss Ruby Ribbon’ at the ‘Phoenix Village Cup 2015 Ningbo International Fashion Design Grand Prix’ and ‘Young Designer of the Year 2015’ at The Clothes Show.
The brand’s DNA is about the rawness of being a carefree child and not losing that in the pressures of being an adult; always remembering to enjoy life and keeping an inner peace within you. The use of print is a distinctive aspect of the brand’s DNA as it helps the designer communicate her narrative of the collection through the use of illustrating the story through drawings. A strong narrative drives the designer to feel connected to her work. The inspiration and narrative of the collection, ‘The story of Miss Ruby Ribbon’ was inspired by her childhood and a tribute to her parrot Ruby, who she created into a young girl called ‘Ruby Ribbon’; a girl who is walking the bridge of childhood to adulthood with defiance. She enters a new world called ‘Childhood City’ where she meets her inner child; ‘Miss Lola Child’ and her two childhood pets; a parrot called ‘Dream’ and a Dalmatian dog called ‘Kid’ and ‘Baddie’ the evil presence in the City who is a bad influence on them.
