Jack presents a vision of fading excess. His tight tailoring is restrictive, yet romantic – a story led uncompromisingly by his use of silhouette. Striped silk taffetas, in pale yellow-greys and khaki greens, resemble a faded almost soiled cloth – contrasted with jet-black leather. Boned seams on cinched, flamboyant jackets create strange and fascinating new shapes. Trousers are either tight, cropped and cut to accentuate swollen calves, or pleat out from the upper thigh into a voluminous bustled silhouette. In homage to Tommy Nutter; generous revers fly high upon the shoulder, framing bare pallid chests; a mood inspired by Huysmans À rebours. Jack’s collection dresses sickly secluded aesthetes and Withnailian aristo-bastards.
Jack Byne is a London based graduate from the University of Westminster’s world-renowned BA (Hons) Fashion Design course. During his studies, Jack gained experience interning for Kim Jones at Louis Vuitton in Paris and Liam Hodges in London. His romantic aesthetic is underpinned by an obsessive attention to detail and constant considered references to the heritage and authenticity of mens garments.
