The intuition that made me choose fashion comes from the daily, physical and psychological relationship I have with some of my garments. For this first collection, I considered the pleated skirt as the garment I identify myself with. Inspired by fashion theory and performance, I aim to demonstrate how personal our daily experience of garments is, inviting the viewer to rethink the assumptions about fashion, addressing clothing in a more intimate way.
In my final collection I translated this conceptual idea into a tangible, wearable dimension, approaching it as a product designer as well as an innovator.
By merging carefully designed items from the past (pleated skirt, turtleneck, and all other pieces of clothing), with experimental technologies and unexplored techniques, I subverted the nature of fabrics such as latex and jersey by pleating them.
The collection mirrors my aesthetics and to highlight it I used my friends (16 to 35 years old) as models.
