Since completing the MA program at Central St Martins in 1999 Adam Entwisle and Co designer Emma Caplan have been producing collections together. Early works include the label Adam Entwisle, counter culture brand Buddhist Punk and the influential cult label HORACE.
Past collaborations include, Adam Entwisle label – Sarah Richardson, Charlotte Stockdale, Nicola Formichetti, Isabella Blow, Simon Kostin, Andrew Davis to name a few.
Buddhist Punk label – Chrome Hearts, The Rolling Stones, Blondie, David Bowie, AC/DC, Jack Daniels and many more licencing and collaboration projects.
Most recently Adam consulted for a two seasons with Nicola Formichetti at Diesel #Dieselreboot.
After a 2-year hiatus from producing their own collections Emma and Adam have returned to showcase CAPLANENTWISLE a namesake label with a new direction ‘handcraft v handmade’, exploring the millennials attitude to re-appropriation of existing concepts. To make something from scratch is a craft, is handcraft and customisation the same thing? To craft something into something else even if its re-appropriated, does that meant it is fashion. We have always done it and always will.
AW17 THE STRANGER AS A SOCIAL TYPE is inspired by Georg Simmel’s essay The Stranger. This type isn’t an outsider or a wanderer, the stranger is the maverick unaffected by class, gender, ethnicity. Transcend these boundaries. Be the stranger.
